Crown Coin Commemorates Late Queen Elizabeth II

The East India Company has produced ‘The Crown Coin’, one of the most expensive coins ever produced, to commemorate the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Described as ‘a one of a kind objet d’art’ by the company, it consists of eleven 24 carat gold coins in total – with the central 1kg gold coin featuring ten smaller 1 ounce gold coins placed around the larger coin.

With the design inspired by the Dome of St Paul’s Cathedral in London, the largest central gold coin is surrounded by the smaller coins. The top four each bear a different official effigy of the late Queen, ranging from the first released in 1953 to one of the most recent, the Ian Rank- Broadley portrait issued in 1998.
